ICT in the Curriculum and One to One Program

At Buxton Primary School computers are an important educational tool integrated across the school curriculum. Students have access to the school’s computer network in the classroom through their Chromebook laptops and iPads. Students also have access to a wide variety of ICT experiences and will develop a range of useful skills. We use Google Apps of Education, including tools such as Google Drive and Google Classroom. Our students have become proficient in using these online collaborative tools effectively.

Online and digital safety are paramount for our students, and we are a registered eSmart School. We have strong content filters enabled and regularly teach students about online safety and privacy. We have run workshops with Kids Helpline and Project Rockit for parents and students.

The School has an internet usage policy and both students and parents need to sign a contract which outlines acceptable computer and internet usage.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Taungurung people as the first peoples of Buxton and the surrounding areas. The Taungurung have been custodians and caretakers of the land, animals and waters for many thousands of years and continue to perform age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal. We also recognise other Indigenous peoples living and working in the Buxton area.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

In response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence, Buxton Primary School is committed to promoting and embedding respectful relationships and gender equality into our school’s curriculum, ethos, vision and values. In our school, the focus is on treating everyone with respect and dignity, developing personal, social and emotional skills and contributing to early intervention through education. We aim to create real and lasting change in the lives of our students, staff, families and the wider school community.
